Hunger is not inevitable, and yet nearly 11 percent of the world’s population suffers from it. For the past 20 years, Stop Hunger has worked to eradicate hunger, growing into a global network of more than 1,200 local NGOs. Today it counts around 93,000 volunteers.
We at Havas Events are proud to be among those volunteers. For the past five years, we have donated our time to organise the annual Stop Hunger Donors’ Evening, working on the evening’s programme, logistics and production. The most recent gathering took place on 12 March 2019 at the Seine Musicale in Paris, bringing together 700 donors, partners, volunteers and association representatives.
The charity event showcased various actions taken over the year, and recognised outstanding volunteers from Stop Hunger’s founding partner Sodexo. Guests watched the French Debating Association address thought-provoking themes, ranging from volunteering to the role of women in fighting hunger. Dinner was prepared by Michelin-starred chefs Frédéric Anton and Thierry Marx, as well as the gourmet caterer Lenôtre.
The event raised more than €830,000, all of which will go to projects run by Stop Hunger. A crowdfunding operation raised another €10,000 for five women award-winners as well as emergency assistance in Yemen.
About 80 volunteers, including 15 from Havas Events, helped out at the event. It was an honour for us to offer our talents for such an important cause.
