PLANETE A DIGGING THE SOIL
Our planet has many mouths to feed – including nearly 10 billion people by 2050. It is essential that our agriculture be healthy, diverse and sustainable. In 2017, the collective Planet A sprouted to life in Châlons-en-Champagne, France. Its aim is to serve as a hub for innovative, sustainable and human agriculture, making it a source of solutions to global issues.
We worked with Planet A to organise the first International Forum of Agriculture, which took place over two days in June 2018. Following the success of this gathering, we accompanied the collective in planning another two-day forum one year later. With the theme of soil, it was called “Land, waste, planet: soil quality for the health of living things.” Both were sponsored under thehigh patronage of the President of the Republic.

The second edition brought together 300 participants from 30 different countries, representing the range of global agriculture stakeholders: companies, institutions, NGOs, civil society, scientists and politicians. More than 70 speakers delivered keynotes and talks, or took part in roundtables and workshops. Themes varied from preserving biodiversity to soil and human health.
Participants debated concrete proposals and strategies for ensuring food security, preserving our natural resources, and fighting climate change. These went into an open book to be presented at conferences such asCOP24 and G20 Agricultural Ministries, sowing the seeds of discussion among the planet’s power brokers. The forum received new commitments to help protect the soil from companies, associations and institutions.
